Companies House Identity Verification Rules

Big changes are coming to UK company law. From 18 November 2025, Companies House will introduce mandatory identity verification for all company directors, LLP members, and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs). These reforms are part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, designed to make UK businesses more transparent and reduce fraud.

What’s Changing?

Identity checks become compulsory for:

    • New directors and PSCs before appointment.
    • Existing directors and PSCs before your next confirmation statement.

Verification can be done directly via GOV.UK One Login (free and online).

Why It Matters

These changes strengthen the integrity of the Companies House register, helping protect your business reputation and prevent misuse of company structures.
